I think I might just buy the original game and the DLC here on Steam, to support you developing more! Plus, nostalgia! :) Yay for being able to use Life and Death books at the same time! (I don't think I'd understand much of my savegame editor anymore - made with Quick Basic back on DOS, got so big I had to split out the unit editor into its own thing, and I doubt it'd work with saves of the DLC.)Ĭurrent versions imply you're working on a new one? :))Īnyway, the changes I read about are already very interesting, especially as maybe my strategy of putting pairs of different units (4x2, whatever was good for that race) in each city may be more than just fluff now. But mostly I ran around with Heroes in MoM.) And I don't think I ever hit a unit limit, hm. :) I've pushed around and reactivated too many settlers in the original Civ. Thank you for your detailed reply! :) (Shame about increasing units rather than cities, I am not that big a fan of pushing units around. #Master of magic map editor installYou can also have Life and Death books at the same time by default in CoM, and there's an optional feature to enable the same in the CP (it's a bit cumbersome to install right now though, but I'm already working on that). Giving the computer too many spells and then trying to trade with them will no longer crash in either CoM or the CP, I found and fixed that bug already. We may be able to do away with that eventually, but not yet. Both CoM and the CP did increase the maximum amount of units to 2000 (from 1000), which used up pretty much all of the remaining available conventional memory.ĬoM has no extra customisation options for world shape, but what you'd like will never happen there in the current versions, as continents are limited to 200 tiles maximum to prevent the AI from being unable to use some (or many) of its units. The maximum amount of cities is 100, and will likely stay that way because of programming constraints (it's a memory allocation issue, there's just not enough of it without re-coding a bunch of things). The game runs on DOSBox, yes, but I don't think you can buy just CoM without re-buying the original on Steam too (or GoG if you prefer to get it from there). :) Well, those I remember 10 years later still. The above where the things that bugged me most, after changing other things (like not being able to use Life and Death books at the same time) with my savegame editor. #Master of magic map editor upgradeI've read that AI has been improved, but this was my main game between some time in the 90s to 2009 (alongside Patrizier), when I moved, got broadband, and a fitting windoze computer (only DOS and OS/2 before), especially when a lot of DOS games stopped working properly after a CPU/board upgrade around 2000. I tried it in the original, but on the next chat they froze.) On that note, are there more customization options for the world shape? I like one giant continent and no lone islands.ĭoes the game still freeze when you give the computer players too many spellls? (By, savegame editor. #Master of magic map editor downloadThis needs DOSbox, right? So, can I just buy the DLC and download it to run it with my old MoM game? Or do I have to buy the original game on Steam, too?ĭid they increase the limit of possible cities? I remember it was 200, which left too much empty space on a world with large continents.
